Hydrogen Gas Method
Hydrogen gas method is used to detect underground water leaks The hydrogen
gas method is based on the injection of a low concentration hydrogen(5%) and
nitrogen(95%) into the water pipe.Hydrogen is the lightest of all gases and
easily penetrates materials such as concrete. The actual location is done
with a hydrogen gas detector. Especially designed to detect hydrogen only,
as it escapes from the leak in the pipe and is sensitive enough to react to
as small a concentration of hydrogen as 0.0001% in the air.We use Sensistor
hydrogen detectors.
Is hydrogen really safe?
Hydrogen is non poisonous and we already have lots of it in our bodies.
It is not explosive as long as it is sufficiently diluted. Standard mixtures
of 5% hydrogen and 95% nitrogen are readily available. We call it forming
gas.
